Tam Coc in Trang An Complex

Tam Coc is translated as “three caves” in English. This tourist attraction lies within Trang An Complex – an UNESCO listed destination. Tam Coc includes the caves of Hang Ba, Hang Hai and Hang Ca. You can approach these caves by going on a rowboat tour the village of Van Lam.

Proven to be the biggest in the trio of caves, Hang Ca Cave is 120 meters in length, while the smaller one, Hang Ba, only stretches 45 meters long. The ideal time of visiting Tam Coc is March till May. This is the time when the farmers start to grow rice in the field, which makes a marvelous scenery of yellow and bright green sea of rice paddies.

Thien Duong Cave – One of the most amazing caves to visit in Vietnam

Within the National Park of Phong Nha Ke Bang lies another famous tourist site, which is Thien Duong Cave or Paradise Cave. The inside of the cave was discovered by the British Research Association. Thien Duong Cave is also known as the longest dry cave found in Asia, with a length of over 31 kilometers. It’s big enough to nest a jumbo jet. Visitors can explore this limestone cavern in two different ways: A seven-kilometer hike or a one-kilometer walk via the wooden stairs.

Tu Lan Cave System in Quang Binh province

The Tu Lan Cave system will take you by surprise as it consists of over 10 caves in the province of Quang Binh. This cave system is now getting more and more recognition thanks to its appearance in “Kong: Skull Island” – a big blockbuster in 2017.

Hang Va and Nuoc Nut are also the famous duo of caves that you don’t want to miss out on your caving journey in Vietnam. It takes a two-day tour to explore both of these caves. On the first day, travelers will trek for 2 kilometers to reach Nuoc Nut cave. Inside the cave you’ll see an amazing underwater river, which links to the entrance of Hang Va cave. Son Doong is so large that inside of the cave you can find a whole jungle. This is the biggest cave in the world as it covers an area of 38.5 million cubic meters. You can explore the cave on four-day treks, which includes a hike through the jungle, a lunch break in Ban Doong village before reaching the remote Son Doong Cave.
