Next, we will explore the Temple of Literature, which was built in 1070 to honor Confucius and served as Vietnam's first university. The temple also pays tribute to 82 Vietnamese scholars who successfully passed rigorous exams during the feudal ages. Their names, birthdays, and birthplaces are engraved on 82 headstones atop stone tortoises. Legend has it that touching the heads of these tortoises brings good luck. With its serene green surroundings, well-maintained lawns, gardens, and lotus ponds, the Temple of Literature offers a tranquil sanctuary away the bustling city.

Lunch will be served at a delightful local restaurant, giving us a taste of authentic flavors.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Museum of Ethnology (closed on Mondays; the alternative is the History Museum). This museum is dedicated to Vietnam's 54 officially recognized ethnic groups and features both indoor and outdoor sections. While the indoor exhibition provides valuable insights, the outdoor display showcases traditional houses of various minority groups, ranging the Kinhs to those in the Central Highlands. To truly experience the charm of Hanoi, we will embark on a 45-minute cyclo tour through the enchanting Old Quarter, where age-old trees line the streets and French Colonial buildings add to the charm.
