Once you arrive, your friendly host will greet you at the meeting point and take you to the local market, which has been a vibrant part of the region since the Le King Dynasty. This bustling market is famous for its traditional items and attracts people surrounding villages, especially on market days when the crowd is livelier. You’ll witness vendors selling their wares, including dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, ducks, and an array of goods in bamboo baskets. As you stroll through the market, you’ll see the old women chewing betel and areca nut and blacksmiths diligently working with their bright braziers.
Even on non-market days, the market area remains open and offers a wide variety of fresh vegetables, meats, fruits, and more. Adjacent to the market is a scenic farm, where we’ll take a tour of the vegetable fields growing an assortment of produce, bitter melon to corn, cauliflower, cabbage, and tomatoes. You’ll also get to explore the fruit gardens, home to oranges, pomelo, papaya, and other seasonal delights. If the timing is right, you might even get a chance to assist a local farmer in tending to their fields.
After the farm visit, we’ll head to a local house where you’ll learn the art of cooking Vietnamese dishes using simple and traditional recipes. Indulge in the flavors of fresh local veggies, fruits, and traditional cakes while engaging in conversations about Vietnamese family customs. Vegetarian options are available upon request, and the host will generously provide tea and local wine. Before we head back to Hanoi city, we’ll make a stop at the Ho Chi Minh complex and Tran Quoc Pagoda, one of the oldest pagodas in the city. If the weather permits, you can even enjoy the sunset over the picturesque West Lake.
The rest of the day is yours to explore and unwind at your leisure. Enjoy your overnight stay in Hanoi city.
