10-Day South Vietnam Itinerary: Explore Culture, Nature, and Relax

There are many sights to view, ranging the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City to the white sand beaches of Phu Quoc. Plan a 10-day trip to South Vietnam for the most genuine and enjoyable experiences. Here is a 10-day South Vietnam itinerary to get you started. Read on to learn about the accommodation, transport, and daily activities to help you have a great trip.

Day 1-2: Ho Chi Minh City-Start with Culture

Accommodation:

Stay in District 1 for central location and easy access to attractions. Liberty Central Saigon Riverside or Hotel des Arts Saigon are good options, offering advanced amenities and close to the top landmarks.

Day 1:

Explore the War Remnants Museum and dedicate 2 to 3 hours to gain insights the historical context of Vietnam's war. Then head to the Reunification Palace, another historical site, and spend 2 hours exploring the garden and inside.

In the afternoon, walk around Ben Thanh Market to shop for souvenirs, try local street food, and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Spend 1-2 hours here.

Day 2:

Day 3-4: Can Tho- The Mekong Delta Gateway

Transport Options:

It takes 3.5-4 hours to get to Can Tho Ho Chi Minh City by car or bus.

Day 4:

Experience a dawn boat tour of Cai Rang Floating Market, the largest floating market in the Mekong Delta. This market, which is full of activity, should not be missed. To fully discover the market, you will need about 4-5 hours, including the boat ride.

Visit a nearby fruit orchard next, where you can try some tropical fruits and learn about farming in the area. While at the orchard, spend 2-3 hours before returning to your accommodation.

Day 5: Explore Chau Doc- Culture and Nature Combined

Accommodation:

Chau Doc offers a variety of stays - you can either stay in a hotel by the riverside or in an eco-lodge. The Victoria Chau Doc Hotel offers eco-lodges and opulent, roomy suites with breathtaking river views. 

Transport Options:

Chau Doc is 3-4 hours away Can Tho by car. The most comfortable alternative is the rented private car, which also provides the flexibility to make spontaneous stops during the trip.

Activities:

A beautiful journey to the Tra Su Cajuput Forest is the best way to start your day. You can spare 2-3 hours of this tranquil environment while paddling through the mangroves and still have a great time. 

Discover Sam Mountain, a well-liked spot with amazing views of the surrounding countryside. Stop by the Ba Chua Xu Temple, situated at the foot of the mountain, a pilgrimage site for the locals. Schedule around 2-3 hours at this place, appreciating the scenery and the spiritual ambiance.

Day 6-9: Relax in Phu Quoc- Island Bliss

Accommodation:

Transport Options:

You can take an hour-long flight Can Tho to Phu Quoc or a 5-6-hour ferry ride Ha Tien. 

The fastest route is by air, so you'll have more time to explore the island.

Day 6:

Once in Phu Quoc, you can sit or enjoy the rest of the day at the beach. In the evening- head to the Phu Quoc Night Market, where you can taste local seafood, buy souvenirs, and enjoy the fun atmosphere. 

Day 7:

Visit Sao Beach, the finest beach in Phu Quoc, having soft white sand and clear turquoise waters. After that, you can go to the Phu Quoc Prison Museum, built long ago, which gives a glimpse of the island's wartime past, which is the main reason for the visit. Set aside 4-5 hours for these activities.

Day 8:

The southern region of Phu Quoc, specifically the An Thoi Islands, is the ideal destination for a full-day snorkeling or diving excursion. These islands are some of Vietnam's most beautiful underwater places, with colorful coral reefs and many kinds of fish. The trip will take 5-6 hours, including the boat's travel time.

Day 9:

Explore the pepper farms and fish sauce production facilities in Phu Quoc, which are vital for the island's economy. Understand the production process and taste some of the local products. Beach or resort sundown will be your last stop of the day. The time allocated for these activities is about 4-5 hours.

Day 10: Return to Ho Chi Minh City

Transport Options: 

Fly back to Ho Chi Minh City Phu Quoc, about 1 hour. It saves lots of time and is more convenient for returning to the city.
